Meyer Cocktail: Intravenous Vitamin + Mineral Cocktail

What is a Meyer Cocktail?

The Meyer’s cocktail was developed by Dr. John Meyer in the 1970’s & is an intravenous vitamin & mineral cocktail that contains large amounts of vitamin C; along with B vitamins & minerals such as Magnesium Chloride & Calcium Gluconate.  The recipe can be tailored to fit the needs of each individual person.

Who could benefit from the Meyer Cocktail infusions?
Meyer cocktails can be beneficial for many health related problems, such as:

• Asthma
• Migraine headaches
• Fibromyalgia
• Depression
• Cardiovascular disease
• Respiratory tract infections
• Sinusitis
• Seasonal allergic rhinitis
• Narcotic withdrawal
• Chronic itching
• Thyroid problems
• Part of a cleansing treatment for environmental medicine & detoxification
• Acute viral illnesses
• Acute infections
• Chronic fatigue syndrome

It can also help with athletic performance & an overall energy boost.

Who should not have a Meyer Cocktail infusion?

People with a known sensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients in a Meyer cocktail should not have the infusion or should have it tailored to avoid those known allergies.  People with G6PD deficiency & kidney disease should not have the infusion.  Meyer cocktail should be used cautiously in patients with Congestive Heart Failure due to the increased fluid volume.

What are the side effects of the Meyer Cocktail infusion?

Some people experience a sensation of heat or burning at the IV site during the infusion due to the Vitamin C.  Please notify the nurse if burning or pain occurs so appropriate action can be taken.  The IV can be slowed down, heat can be applied, & lidocaine may added to the IV.  If the IV infuses too rapidly, it may cause lightheadedness or fainting.  Muscle cramps are possible, although not likely.

**Please notify Dr. Singer or the IV Nurse if you take Digoxin due to potential interactions**
